The Opening Ceremony of the Chinese Culture Experience Program Organized by the Confucius Institute at University of the Bahamas Was Held in Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology On July 2, 2018, the opening ceremony of the Chinese Culture Experience Program organized by the Confucius Institute at University of the Bahamas (UB) was held in the conference hall of the College of International Students at the University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST).
Prof. Liu Xuanfei, Vice President of the university, Prof. Ma Tinghuai, Dean of the College of International Students, Prof. Jing Yuanshu & Prof. Zhang Guanglei, both deans of the College, Prof. Fan Yong Chinese Co-Director of the Confucius Institute, Ms. Liu Dongmei, Chinese lecturer of the Confucius Institute, and all the participants of the Chinese Culture Experience Program attended the ceremony. The total number of attendants was over 40.

Prof. Liu Xuanfei, vice president of the university delivered a welcoming speech. He first extended a warm welcome to the Bahamian educators and students participating in the Chinese Culture Experience Program and wished the program a complete success. He pointed out with the support of the Confucius Institute Headquarters, Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology and University of the Bahamas have made joint efforts to help the Confucius Institute to achieve progresses successively in promoting the Chinese language education, promulgating Chinese culture and furthering the friendship between the Bahamian and Chinese people. The Chinese culture program this year focuses on intensified learning of Chinese language, Chinese culture workshop and field trips to explore Chinese culture, which will help the participants to improve their Chinese proficiency and deepen their experience in Chinese culture. He also gave a brief introduction to the history and current development of NUIST. He hoped that the participants will make the best of the opportunity and share their experience with their family and friends after returning to the Bahamas and serve as ambassadors of Sino-Bahamian cultural exchange.

Ms. Tameka Lundy, assistant vice president & director of University Relation and Miss Ken-Reesha Price, an outstanding mandarin student of the Confucius Institute spoke respectively on behalf of the faculty and students of UB, who both gave thanks to the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology for offering them such a precious opportunity and expressed a desire to utilize this opportunity to learn Chinese language and culture to broaden their cultural vision in order to contribute to Sino-Bahamian friendship and exchange.

At the ceremony, Vice President Liu Xuanfei, on behalf of NUIST presented gifts to the Bahamian educators and students. The international students of NUIST gave performances in art and culture.
