Vice Premier Liu Yandong Witnesses Signing of Agreement on Establishing European Business Confucius Institute at ESCP Europe

On the morning of November 24th, the fourth meeting of the China-France High-level Mechanism of Dialogue on People-to-People Exchanges was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse, Beijing. Witnessed by Liu Yandong, Vice Premier of China and Jean-Yves Le Drian, Foreign Minister of France, Ma Jianfei, Deputy Chief Executive of the Confucius Institute Headquarters and Deputy Director-General of Hanban, and Etienne Guyot, Chief Executive of the Paris ?le-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed the Agreement on Establishing a European Business Confucius Institute at ESCP Europe. The Confucius Institute’s Chinese partner is Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), and Peng Long, BFSU President attended the signing ceremony.

Founded in 1819, the ESCP Europe is world’s oldest top business school. The school has 6 campuses in Europe, respectively located in Paris, London, Berlin, Madrid, Turin, and Warsaw. Each year more than 4,600 students and 5,000 business managers from more than 100 countries study at ESCP, and they are taught by more than 140 full-time professors, 120 part-time and guest professors, and 800 mentors and experts from various industries.

After the establishment, the Confucius Institute will offer courses such as business Chinese and Chinese culture. It will partner with the Paris ?le-de-France Chamber of Commerce and Industry to teach business Chinese for more than 70,000 enterprises affiliated to the chamber. The institute is dedicated to promoting exchanges and cooperation in education, culture, trade, business and other fields between China and France.
