Chinese and Lao Leaders Jointly Inaugurate Radio Confucius Classroom of Lao National Radio
On the afternoon of Dec. 21st, Liu Qibao, member of the Political Bureau and Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and Head of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and Kikeo Khaykhamphithoune, member of the Secretariat of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee and Head of the LPRP Central Committee’s Publicity Department, jointly inaugurated the Radio Confucius Classroom of Lao National Radio. Over 300 people, including representatives of Chinese-funded enterprises and institutions in Laos, audience representatives of CRI Vientiane FM93 and other people from various circles of Laos participated in the inauguration ceremony.

To serve countries along the “Belt and Road”, at the request of Lao National Radio and with support from Confucius Institute Headquarters, the CRI Radio Confucius Classroom of Lao National Radio rises to the occasion. Giving full play to the advantage of media resources and supported by Lao National Radio and CRI Vientiane Studio, the classroom will cover the entire Lao territory and the northern part of Thailand with Vientiane as its centre.
At president, Radio Confucius Classroom is able to teach Chinese and promote Chinese culture in multiple forms and via platforms and means, such as radio, TV, network and mobile devices. The Lao partner of the classroom, Lao National Radio, started to broadcast Chinese programs since Nov., 2015 with assistance from CRI Vientiane Studio. Vandi Bouttasavong, newly-appointed Lao Ambassador to China noted in an interview in Beijing that she has learned a lot of Chinese from CRI Vientiane FM93 and is looking forward to the launch of the Radio Confucius Classroom.
